PODGORICA, December 4, 2025 – The Montenegrin Government has adopted a decision establishing the Commission for Monitoring the Actions of Competent Authorities in Investigations of Threats and Violence Against Journalists, Murders of Journalists, and Attacks on Media Property. The body will be chaired by Vijesti’s Program Director, Mihailo Jovović.
As reported by Analitika, the Decision appoints the following members to the Commission: Marko Radonjić, representative of the Ministry of the Interior; Velimir Furtula, representative of the Police Directorate; Dalibor Tomović, attorney and representative of non-governmental organizations; and Predrag Nikolić, representative of the Trade Union of Media of Montenegro.
The Commission also includes: Sead Sadiković, journalist and representative of the Association of Professional Journalists of Montenegro; Ranko Vujović, Executive Secretary and representative of the Media Self-Regulation Council; Nebojša Asanović, attorney and representative of the daily newspaper Dan; Jelena Jovanović, journalist and representative of the independent daily Vijesti; Predrag Šuković, representative of the Police Directorate; Mladen Stojović, journalist and representative of TV Adria; Sanja Raičević, representative of the National Security Agency; Jelena Đaletić, representative of the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office; and Maja Janković, representative of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office.
The Commission’s mandate is two years and may be extended for an additional two years if the Government of Montenegro deems it necessary.
The Commission is tasked with defining a plan and timeline for gathering facts and determining other circumstances related to ongoing investigations, and with establishing cooperation with the authorities responsible for conducting those investigations. Based on the information obtained and the circumstances assessed, the Commission shall prepare an overview of the investigations conducted to date, draft an opinion on effective ways to improve the conduct of investigations, and propose specific measures to be undertaken for that purpose.
