PODGORICA, 28.10.2025 – A hearing was held yesterday at the Misdemeanor Court in Berane in the second case related to the incident in the village of Gornje Zaostro, during which camera crews from Vijesti and Pobjeda were attacked.
According to Vijesti, five suspects — including two minors — gave testimony at the hearing. They are suspected of taking part in the assault on reporter and photojournalists Balša Rudović, Boris Pejović and Stevo Vasiljević.
The victims, Rudović and Pejović, also testified; they joined the prosecution and filed a civil claim for damages.
Rudović told TV Vijesti that the suspects denied the charges at today’s hearing, and that he and Pejović asked the court to impose the maximum penalty.
The trial will continue in November because Vasiljević did not appear at today’s hearing, reportedly because he had not been served with a summons.
The defendants are charged with a misdemeanor under Article 7 of the Law on Public Order and Peace — insulting and disorderly conduct.
The incident occurred in August during the removal of a monument to Chetnik commander and convicted war criminal Pavle Đurišić in Gornje Zaostro, near Berane, when a group of people attacked Rudović, Pejović and Vasiljević.
In the first case, two weeks ago the trial against Danko Femić began before the Basic Court in Berane; the prosecution accuses him of committing the criminal offense of coercion against Pejović and Vasiljević.
Femić was released from custody on October 14 by order of the Basic Court in Berane.
