The Instagram account of the Radar portal suddenly gained a large number of unknown bot followers, mostly from fake accounts.
In less than two hours, the number of followers increased by more than six thousand (and continued to grow), representing around 8 percent of the account’s total followers. Specifically, the follower count rose from 85.8 thousand to 91.9 thousand in under two hours. According to the Radar editorial team, such an increase would normally take around three months to achieve organically.
The Radar editorial team contacted Meta, providing information about the sudden surge of fake followers and expressing concern that this could lead to the blocking or shutdown of the account.
