In the period from 13th to 17th October, on TikTok profile of Amir Pašić and in Facebook group Balkan Radar several video were published containing hateful and misogynistic messages against journalist Rabija Arifović, from Stav Magazine, in which Pašić, in a threatening and raised tone, utters a series of untruths and vulgar assessments about the journalist, accompanied by street language and insults on basis of gender and religion. Through sharing of the video and comments of hundreds of followers of Amir Pašić and Balkan Radar, the violence multiplied for several days at an incredible speed, and each new message was more horrific than the previous one, in order to violate the human and professional dignity of the journalist.
BHJA reacted with a statement, demanding an immediate response from the prosecution and police, condemning the most primitive form of communication in public space, as well as the abuse of freedom of expression to commit criminal acts against the security and constitutionally protected religious, gender and other identities, not only of journalists, but also of numerous other citizens. In a short time, the Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation, and the FBiH Cyber Violence Unit received permission to remove the controversial video content.
