Berislav Jelinić, Nacional magazine editor in chief, has been threatened by Krešimir Gilja by phone and text. Krešimir Gilja was not satisfied as Jelinić did not want to publish a story the way Gilja found adequate.

Berislav Jelinić reported threat to the police and reaction was rapid – Krešimir Gilja was ordered one month detention.

Croatian Journalists’ Association (CJA) welcomes rapid response of competent bodies in this case. At the same time we would like to remind the public that very many threats against journalists, including death threats, has not yet been closed.

We therefore call for competent institutions to maximize their efforts in solving these cases.
