This report is a continuation of the base-line assessment, which presented in greater detail the
legislative situation and socio-economic and political issues related to media freedom and journalists’
safety and identified key challenges and recommendations for journalists’ associations
and other stakeholders. The main purpose of this research study is to reveal new developments
and to compare media freedom and journalists’ safety levels to those identified in 2016.
Regional Platform for advocating media freedom and journalists’ safety is a network of journalist associations and media trade unions in Western Balkans countries established in January 2016 with the financial assistance of the European Union and within the EU Support to Regional Thematic Networks of Civil Society Organisations Program
