ATV team’s vehicle damaged in Zveçan

This morning, the ATV team’s vehicle was targeted in an attack by Serbian protesters.

In the photos sent to the Association of Journalists of Kosovo – AJK, it can be seen that the vehicle’s tires were intentionally punctured to hinder reporting.

The situation faced by journalists is extremely concerning and is worsening each time as they continue to be targeted by local Serb protesters.

Association of Journalists of Kosovo calls on all fellow journalists, camera operators, photojournalists, and their team drivers to be extra precaution during reporting and, if necessary, seek assistance from the officials of the Kosovo Police who are present there.

Kanal 10’s vehicle vandalized in Zveçan

The team from Kanal 10 television had their vehicle damaged during reporting in the northern part of the country.

These attacks against journalists and other media workers are intensifying as they continue to report under very difficult conditions.

For the Association of Journalists of Kosovo – AJK, the situation of journalists, who are constantly targeted by Serbian protesters, is unacceptable. This becomes even more severe when they are not provided with direct protection from KFOR and other international presence in that part of the country.

AJK calls on media owners, chief editors, and governing institutions to prioritize the well-being of journalists, camera operators, photojournalists, and drivers. Meanwhile, we urge fellow journalists to follow the instructions of the Kosovo Police.

Journalists are being attacked by masked individuals in Leposaviq, Tëvë1 camera broken

Currently, journalists from over 10 media outlets have been assaulted by masked individuals in the Municipality of Leposaviq.

Colleagues from Tëvë1 have informed the Association of Journalists of Kosovo – AJK, that some individuals have broken their cameras, arguing that they should not be filming them because they are wearing masks.

These behaviors by the masked protesters are completely unacceptable, and we urge the competent security authorities present in this municipality to ensure the safety of journalists so that they can report without being attacked or hindered. At the same time, we call on all colleagues to exercise extra precautions during reporting.

 

Journalists attacked with hard objects in Leposaviq

A few moments ago, journalists from various media outlets were attacked by Serbian protesters in the Municipality of Leposaviq.

In a live broadcast, several women can be seen attempting to obstruct reporters from RTV Dukagjini, KOHA, and other media outlets from reporting live from this municipality.

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo immediately contacted the Kosovo Police to ensure a safe perimeter for our colleagues’ reporting.

AJK urges all colleagues to respect the instructions given by the officials of the Kosovo Police who are present there and to exercise extra precaution during reporting.

Vehicles of KOHA and T7 vandalized during the night in Zveçan

The vehicle of the KOHA team that reported from Zveçan yesterday was found completely vandalized this morning.

In the photos and video published by the media outlet, broken windows, punctured tires, nationalist symbols marked on the vehicle, and missing side mirrors can be seen.

Similarly, the T7 media vehicle was found in the same condition, covered with Serbian nationalist symbols, with broken windows and punctured tires.

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo is deeply concerned by the images provided by these two media outlets, and we urge all colleagues to exercise extra precaution during reporting. Furthermore, we call on the competent authorities to provide security for journalists reporting from these municipalities and to prioritize the investigation of all attacks against the media that occurred yesterday.

A vehicle belonging to TV Syri’s team was hit by bullets in Zveçan

A vehicle belonging to the TV Syri team was hit by bullets in Zveçan.

The editorial staff informed told AJK that the whole incident happened while they were returning from Zveçan.

“While the vehicle was passing through several groups of masked Serbs, together with cameramen Bledar Rexha and Butrint Bejra, we heard something strange and told each other that our vehicle had been hit by a bullet. After 10 minutes, we stopped and saw that we had been hit by a bullet that passed near one of the cameramen.”

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo is deeply concerned about the situation reported by our colleagues during today’s reporting in the northern municipalities. These images are alarming, so we urge the authorities to investigate promptly so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice. We also ask all our colleagues to exercise extra precaution during reporting and in no way jeopardize their physical safety for the sake of reporting.

Tëvë1 team’s vehicle set on fire in Zubin Potok

The vehicle of the media outlet Tëvë1 was initially attacked and then set on fire today in the Municipality of Zubin Potok. In the photos sent to AJK, it can be seen that the windows were broken, the tires were punctured, and then the vehicle was set on fire.

For AJK, this behavior is totally unacceptable, and we urge NATO and EULEX to respond as soon as possible to ensure that our colleagues can report without risking their safety and having their equipment hindered or damaged.

AJK also calls on all colleagues reporting from these municipalities to exercise extra precaution and follow the instructions of the Kosovo Police.

Three masked individuals hinder the Papirus team from filming in Zveçan

The editorial staff of Gazeta Papirus has informed the Association of Journalists of Kosovo that three masked individuals knocked down the camera of their media team while they were filming KFOR vehicles.

In the video sent to AJK, one of the masked individuals can be heard telling the team not to film.

These images are highly concerning for AJK, so once again, we urge the law enforcement authorities and the international presence in Kosovo to ensure that journalists can report from these municipalities without interference. At the same time, we ask all colleagues to exercise extra precaution during reporting and in no way jeopardize their physical safety for the sake of reporting.

Attempted Attack against Periskopi Team in Zveçan

Today, two masked individuals attempted to attack the Periskopi team in Zvecan.

In a photograph sent to the Association of Journalists of Kosovo – AJK, it can be seen that a colleague’s shirt was torn as a result of the attempted assault, fortunately without any injuries.

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo is deeply concerned about the situation created for the media and journalists reporting from these municipalities and urges colleagues to exercise extra precaution during reporting. Furthermore, AJK recommends that colleagues follow the instructions of the Kosovo Police officials present there.

AJK also calls on NATO and EULEX to ensure the safety of journalists and allow them to report without hindrance.
